Full steam ahead for plans from April 2009Stalls at the market are operating well, with cooperation from all. 2009, based on current projections, promises to be our most successful year, with much-welcomed new members. We're very pleased to welcome them and excited to expand our outreach this year, to the Falls of Shin Farmers Markets.
The June 20 2009 Dornoch Farmers Market saw the most attendees so far.
It is hoped that Falls of Shin Farmers Markets will be featured as noteworthy, quoteworthy and newsworthy by the local and regional newspapers. Why? for the unique health benefits with no food mileage locally-grown foods bring and the equal amount of industry, enterprise, initiative and time invested by non-food local suppliers. The importance and significance of locally-produced food and industry to the local economy have been recognized by the Scottish Government and Highland Council.
Potential customers from Tain, Dornoch, Rogart, Lairg, Embo, Spinningdale, Brora, Helmsdale and beyond who seek fresh vegetables, fruit, honey, flowers, lamb, pork and other produce are known to prefer to read about these events in their local media. It is recommended that local producers make a point, via an appropriate officer of East Sutherland Producers, of telling the press they will be there, with adequate advance notice.
To supplement and complement news coverage from the local and regional newspapers, this website shows them under "Market Dates." Falls of Shin has kindly agreed to give similar details via a reciprocal website link on its News and Developments page.
