Why choose local food
At your local Farmers' Market you get to meet the Producer of the food you are going to eat. They have worked hard to bring you the food that they feel passionate about. They want you to enjoy it too and are happy to discuss their food with you.
Local food offered at Farmers' Markets is mostly produced sustainably by small scale Producers. By buying at the market you are supporting the Producer, their families and the local economy.
Buying locally reduces food miles, packaging and waste.
Shopping at a Farmers' Market can be a pleasurable experience. You will often find products that you would not see in mainstream supermarkets and get to meet up with your friends too. Even the weather can add to the character of the market!
Support for any Farmers' Market, particularly small ones, helps them to grow. Your support encourages other Producers to join and showcase their products. You can make a difference and help grow your own Farmers' Market.
